POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Chief Engineer will manage the day-to-day and long-term engineering and maintenance operations of the Hotel, including the upkeep of the building exterior, guestrooms, and public and back-of-house spaces to ensure the safety and comfort of the hotel guests and employees.

  • Assure regular maintenance is scheduled and completed on all hotel equipment including HVAC systems, electrical equipment, laundry facilities, water systems, and mechanical equipment.
  • You will manage maintenance, personnel and plan renovation and repair projects.
  • In this role, you should be organized and proactive.
  • Your goal will be to ensure our hotel premises are safe and functional for guests and employees, and to ensure compliance with Provincial regulatory and inspection requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Possess 5th or 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate
  • Strong organizational, time-management & problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of facility management (sanitation, maintenance, operations)
  • Knowledge of Plumbing, Electrical, Sewer, HVAC systems, Renovation projects
  • Computer knowledge and ability to use standard software applications, administrative processes.
  • Knowledge in emergency procedures
  • Previous Hotel experience considered a strong asset.
  • Experience managing a maintenance/engineering team as Maintenance Manager, or Chief Engineer.

Under the direction of the General Manager, you will be responsible for this beautiful boutique resort hotel, restaurant and lounge, waterfront location on the Sunshine Coast.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant Hotel Manager assists the General Manager in running the daily requirements of the Resort. Overseeing the operation of 30 rooms, 2 outlets and small Banquet facilities, ensuring all operations run smoothly while providing hands-on leadership and training to hotel personnel.

Responsible for day-to-day supervision of management and non-management associates, assigning specified work, focusing on store level operation performance, coaching and developing subordinate management and other non-management associates and performing all other responsibilities as directed by the General Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum one-year relevant experience in a small resort hotel, or similar environment
  • Food and Beverage Manager experience an asset
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and meet stipulated deadlines
  • Cash handling experience
  • Valid Serving It Right certificate
  • Previous P.O.S. experience considered an asset
  • Excellent customer service and people skills
  • Professional attitude and appearance, strong interpersonal skills, and a team player
  • Must be available to work all shifts including days, nights, weekends and statutory holidays.
